Job description

Description:

The role is a 13-month placement starting in June 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student to spend 13 months immersed in the corporate finance advisory world, working on live deals from day one. Based in our open-plan office in Victoria, you'll join a flat-structured, friendly team where everyone's ideas are heard – not just the senior ones. For your first three months you'll be paired with a buddy who will help you settle in and answer any questions you may have, however big or small.

You'll be involved in real research reports that inform live deals, build financial modelling and valuation skills, get exposure to UK-based and overseas client meetings and trips, and be part of a team that knows how to have fun outside of work too, with regular company socials. The majority of our placement students return to us as graduates – this is a genuine launchpad into the industry, not just a year in it.

We're looking for someone with real passion, energy and excitement for the role – and a genuine interest in technology and the corporate finance world. If you're curious about what makes fast-growing companies tick, this is the role for you.

What you will be doing:

  • Build and maintain financial models and valuation analyses – comparable company and precedent transaction analysis, operating models and returns work – with hands-on coaching from the deal team.

  • Prepare client-facing materials, including pitch books, CIMs and management presentations.

  • Interact regularly with clients and prospective clients – joining calls and meetings in the UK and overseas, presenting your analysis, and building relationships from day one.

  • Provide analytical and execution support across live deals and ongoing projects, from first pitch through to completion.

  • Research companies, market sectors and trends in the international venture capital market, drawing on specialist databases, internal data libraries and the internet.

  • Present findings clearly and professionally using Word, Excel and PowerPoint, developing the polish expected in client-facing advisory work.

We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of background, identity or circumstances.

Job requirements

What skills you will have:

  • Strong research and analysis capabilities, with ability to present findings in a clear and logical manner.

  • Strong computer literacy, ideally with good general IT knowledge and a demonstrable interest in the technology sector.

  • Strong Excel skills and experience with financial modelling and data analysis.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English (working language).

  • Additional foreign language(s) an advantage but not essential.

  • Ability to work effectively under time pressure.

  • Ability to work independently and comfortable knowing when to ask for guidance.

Eligibility requirements:

  • To be considered for this role you must:

    • be a penultimate year university student with an industrial placement option on your course;

    • have the right to work in the UK. Please note that we are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.
